Mary Ann Shadd Cary was famous for multiple things. Some things she was famous for was opening 2 schools for colored people. One in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and in New York City. Opening a school for all children in Canada. She also was the first woman lawyer in the United States after she graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She was also the first newspaper woman in Canada after she worked on a newspaper article entitled "The Provincial Freeman".
