Levi Strauss was born February 26th 1829. His father and mother were Hirsch and Rebecca Strauss. He had two brothers by the names of Jonas and Louis, along with two sisters. Levi's birth name was Leob, but he changed it to Levi when he immigrated to the U.S. Levi was born in Buttenheim in Bavaria, Germany. When Levi was still young he sailed from Bremerhaven to New York where his two older brothers already had established this successful wholesome company.
