Martin Luther was born on November 10, 1483 in a small town called Eisblen in the region of Saxony.  His family were middle class German peasants. He was the oldest of seven brothers. His grandfather was a farmer who passed down the farm to a younger son. His parents treated him like an animal and always beat him. He had a wife and seven children. Two of them died.
