Elizabeth Blackwell was born on February 3^rd, 1821. Samuel Blackwell her father moved the family to the United States in 1832.  Then Samuel died in Cincinnati leaving the family without financial resources. So to support the family Elizabeth, her siblings, and her mother opened an elementary school. That’s when Blackwell first started getting interested in medicine.
